MLB and American Heart Association Partner to Teach Lifesaving CPR at 2025 All-Star Game

The American Heart Association and Major League Baseball (MLB) are set to transform the 2025 All-Star Game into a lifesaving event by offering Hands-Only CPR training to fans. This initiative, part of the American Heart Association’s Nation of Lifesavers™ movement, seeks to double survival rates from cardiac arrests by 2030 by empowering more bystanders with the confidence and skills to act in emergencies.

Cardiac arrest survival outside hospitals remains alarmingly low, with 9 out of 10 victims dying, often due to the lack of immediate CPR. The Hands-Only CPR training at the Capital One All-Star Village in Atlanta aims to change this by teaching fans the simple yet effective technique of calling 911 and performing chest compressions. This method is as effective as traditional CPR in the first critical minutes and can significantly increase survival chances.

Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting that immediate CPR can double or triple survival rates. The event marks the Association’s first appearance at an MLB event, expanding its reach beyond previous engagements at NFL and NBA gatherings. Jon Coyles of MLB highlighted the league’s commitment to community health and safety through this initiative.

This partnership underscores a shared goal to prepare communities for cardiac emergencies, leveraging the massive platform of the MLB All-Star Game to educate and inspire action. Fans attending the All-Star Village from July 12 to July 15 will have the unique opportunity to learn how to save a life in just 90 seconds, contributing to a larger movement aimed at creating a nation of lifesavers.
