Xala Foundation Marks Empowerment Milestone with Graduation of 409 from ‘Discover Yourself’ Program

The Xala Foundation recently celebrated a pivotal moment in its mission to foster personal and community empowerment with the graduation of 409 participants from its ‘Discover Yourself’ program. This initiative, a cornerstone of the Foundation’s health and lifestyle pillar, has been instrumental in promoting self-awareness, resilience, and community-building among residents of José María Morelos and surrounding areas in Mexico’s Costalegre region.

Designed as a low-impact, conservation-forward destination, Xala integrates sustainable luxury with social equity, aiming to set a new standard for place-making where nature, community, and meaningful travel coexist. The ‘Discover Yourself’ program reflects this vision, emphasizing personal growth as the foundation for lasting community change. The program’s success has garnered support from Mexico’s Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP), highlighting its significance in the region’s social regeneration efforts.

Juan Bremer, Xala Co-Founding Partner, shared the philosophy behind the initiative, stating the goal to empower local talent while celebrating culture, ensuring the region thrives alongside Xala’s growth. Cecilia Paredes, Director of The Xala Foundation, emphasized the program’s role in helping individuals recognize their value and strength, fostering collective hope and transformation.

Beyond traditional aid, The Xala Foundation’s holistic approach includes personal development, entrepreneurship, and cultural preservation, engaging over 240 young people in emotional resilience workshops in 2023 alone. The Foundation’s efforts extend to supporting local business owners, primarily women, through entrepreneurship programming and enhancing educational infrastructure and cultural events like the annual Día de los Muertos celebration.

Ricardo Santa Cruz, Co-Founding Partner of Xala, addressed the community’s youth, reaffirming the commitment to creating opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurship to prevent the need for migration due to lack of opportunity. The Foundation is also preparing local artisans and producers to participate in Xala’s regenerative economy, ensuring the community’s cultural and economic prosperity as the region evolves.
